RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is positioning a landmark partnership with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (HCC) as the centerpiece of its international bilateral strategy ahead of the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026.
The strategic alignment was formalised during a coordination meeting between Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya and Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Central to the discussions is a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, structured around nine core pillars: creative economy development, film, television, and media production, business investment and trade, intellectual property (IP) and brand protection, technology and innovation, signature events, and global collaboration.
The signing is scheduled to take place alongside WCCE 2026, which will convene in Jakarta on October 21–23, 2026, under the theme Inclusively Creative: Collective Continuity. The conference expects to draw over 8,000 delegates across 50 countries, leveraging US private-sector powerhouses, including Microsoft and leading artificial intelligence firms, to formulate the Jakarta Vision on Creative Economy 2026.
Creative economy leadership and diplomatic officials highlighted that establishing direct institutional ties with Hollywood will elevate Indonesia's film production infrastructure, IP protection mechanisms, and global distribution channels. Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the transformative potential of the Hollywood collaboration.
"Our planned partnership with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is designed to strengthen bilateral creative collaboration across nine strategic areas, with film, television, and media production at the forefront, by establishing formal ties with Hollywood, we are creating direct pathways for joint productions, brand protection, and technical innovation. We aim to finalize this MoU during WCCE 2026 as we welcome high-level US delegations and global industry leaders to Jakarta," Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as quoted on Ministry's official website.
