KENRIZ Confides in the Universe through “Semesta”

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian singer Kenko Rizqullah, popularly known as KENRIZ, has turned various stories and heartfelt confessions from people around him into his latest song, “Semesta”. The song tells the story of someone who chooses to confide in the universe when they do not know who else to turn to.

In a recent episode of The Session, RRI Voice of Indonesia’s music program, KENRIZ revealed that the idea for “Semesta” came from stories shared by his friends. What began as a hangout where they shared their stories and personal struggles eventually inspired the Aceh-born singer to turn those experiences into a song.

“The story behind this song came from my friends’ stories. We had this hangout where everyone would share their problems with us, and we turned those stories into a song. That’s where ‘Semesta’ came from,” KENRIZ said in an interview with RRI Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

According to him, the song later underwent a change in perspective. Semesta or the universe is portrayed as a place where he can express things that cannot always be shared with other people.

“So, the POV was changed at one point, and the universe (semesta) became like myself. I’m the one pretending to be okay in front of everyone, and I can only tell my stories to the universe,” he said.

Through “Semesta”, KENRIZ hopes to provide a space for people who may be going through similar experiences. He hopes the song can accompany those who are looking for someone or somewhere to turn to when they feel they have no one who truly understands what they are going through.

KENRIZ also believes that opening up to other people does not always make things easier. At times, sharing personal stories with others can create additional pressure or bring new complications. For this reason, he chose ‘semesta’ the universe as a place to confide while hoping that time will eventually provide the answers.

“That’s why I want to tell my stories to the universe, and hopefully the universe will give me the answers as time goes by,” KENRIZ said.

The song “Semesta” was written by KENRIZ himself. In developing the track, he collaborated with Rendy Pandugo, who served as the producer, while Teddy Adhitya, Kamga, and Agung Ramadhian were also involved in the production process.

Looking ahead, KENRIZ plans to continue releasing singles. He also hopes to release an album and collaborate with several musicians he admires, including Raim Laode, Tohpati, and Andi Rianto.

The single “Semesta” is now available on various digital music streaming platforms. KENRIZ has also released a visualizer for the song on his official YouTube channel.
