RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - As Indonesia enters early August 2026, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that dry weather will continue and may spread to more parts of the country.

According to BMKG's Late July 2026 Consecutive Dry Days (CDD) monitoring, 1,657 observation points recorded 31–60 consecutive days without rain, while 306 observation points experienced more than 60 consecutive dry days. In response to these conditions, BMKG has shared several recommendations to help the public stay safe during the dry season.

1. Protect yourself from direct sunlight

When spending time outdoors, BMKG advises people to wear protective clothing such as hats, use umbrellas, or apply sunscreen to reduce direct exposure to the sun.

2. Stay hydrated

Hot weather can increase the risk of dehydration. People are encouraged to drink enough water, especially when working or engaging in outdoor activities under the sun.

3. Use water wisely

As the dry season continues, BMKG encourages the public to conserve water to help maintain water supplies for households and surrounding communities.

4. Avoid burning trash or clearing land irresponsibly

Dry vegetation increases the risk of forest and land fires. BMKG reminds the public not to burn trash or use fire to clear land, as it can easily trigger fires that are difficult to control.

5. Keep up with weather updates

BMKG also encourages people to regularly check weather forecasts and early warning information through its official channels. Staying informed can help communities prepare for changing weather conditions and take the necessary precautions.

By understanding the current weather conditions and following these recommendations, people can reduce the risks associated with the dry season while helping protect the environment.
