RRI.CO.ID, Santiago – Indonesia is strengthening trade and investment ties with Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) through the INA-LAC Business Mission 2026, held in Santiago, Chile, on October 1–2, 2026. Organized by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia), the Chilean Industrial Development Association (SOFOFA), and other stakeholders, the event brought together Indonesian business players and investors with potential partners from the LAC region.

In a statement issued by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, October 5, 2026, the INA-LAC Business Mission 2026 generated potential transactions worth USD 344.08 million and concrete transactions totaling USD 328.98 million. The figures represent increases of 21.2 percent and 10.8 percent, respectively, compared with the 2025 INA-LAC Business Mission in São Paulo, Brazil, which recorded USD 284 million in potential transactions and USD 297 million in concrete transactions.

This year’s event was also marked by the signing of four business agreements as a foundation for further trade and investment cooperation between Indonesia and the LAC region.

In his opening remarks, Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno said the theme of INA-LAC 2026, “Bridging Continents, Unlocking Opportunities,” was relevant to evolving global geopolitical dynamics and their impact on global energy and food security. He said holding INA-LAC in Chile underscored the importance of strengthening connectivity through closer trade and investment ties, expanding cross-sector cooperation, and building more diverse and resilient economic partnerships.

Meanwhile, Director General for Bilateral Economic Affairs at the Deputy Secretariat for International Economic Relations (SUBREI), Felipe Lopeandía Wielandt, highlighted the importance of economic diplomacy and the strong prospects for economic integration between Chile and Southeast Asia.

Chairman of KADIN Indonesia Anindya Bakrie, also proposed several strategic co-production initiatives in the energy and mining sectors. KADIN Indonesia is committed to identifying key industrial partners in Indonesia and facilitating direct negotiations with business partners in the LAC region.

One of the main agendas of INA-LAC 2026 was the Mining and Energy Forum, which discussed potential cooperation opportunities in the mineral sector. Chile and several Latin American countries are major global suppliers of copper and lithium, while Indonesia is accelerating mineral downstreaming and the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

The forum explored opportunities in investment, technology, research and development, and talent mobility to support downstreaming strategies in Indonesia and the Latin American and Caribbean region.

In addition, business players from the logistics and shipping sectors discussed challenges in the movement of goods and commodities between Indonesia and Latin America, including opportunities to develop Indonesian logistics services to facilitate trade while supporting efforts to decarbonize the transportation sector.

The INA-LAC Business Mission 2026 also featured a dynamic business pitching session, providing Indonesian companies with an opportunity to introduce their products and capabilities and build partnerships with prospective business partners in the region. As one of the flagship programs of the Directorate General for the Americas and Europe at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the INA-LAC Business Mission continues to serve as a catalyst for strengthening Indonesia’s economic cooperation with the Latin American and Caribbean region, which offers significant potential for trade and investment.
