Vanuatu Local Gifts Traditional Dress in Gratitude for Indonesian Medical Aid

RRI.CO.ID, Vanuatu - A local resident in Vanuatu presented a traditional daster dress as a token of appreciation for free medical services provided by Indonesia’s Joint Task Force during Port Visit 2026 on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The patient had undergone safe pterygium eye surgery the previous day and returned to the medical post for a follow‑up check. Captain Yudha Kinantan Octaviano, a military doctor, confirmed the symbolic gift was given as the Indonesian medical team concluded its humanitarian mission at the port.

“I received a small souvenir, a traditional dress from the patient, intended for my wife. It was a heartfelt gesture,” Yudha told rri.co.id.

He added that the patient’s recovery was progressing well, with post‑surgery examinations showing significant improvement. “The operation was performed yesterday, and today the patient came back for post‑operative care,” Yudha explained.

Commander of the Port Visit Task Force, Colonel Benedictus Hary Murwanto, praised the dedication of his personnel. He said the gift reflected the sincerity of local residents in recognizing the medical assistance provided.

“The dress given by a Vanuatu resident is a symbol of gratitude for the health services delivered by our members,” Benedictus noted.

He emphasized that the true value of the mission lay in the satisfaction of the community. Residents of the Pacific island nation expressed deep appreciation for the quality of care offered by the Indonesian team. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
