RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang - Immigration authorities in Tangerang are stepping up surveillance of around 6,000 foreign nationals in Greater Tangerang following the discovery of 13 Chinese citizens suspected of misusing residence permits.
Head of the Tangerang Immigration Office, Hasanin, said inspections are being carried out to ensure the presence and activities of foreigners comply with their visa status. The monitoring effort involves coordination with the police, local government, and the military.
“We will examine the activities of foreign nationals to ensure there are no violations of residence permits or other infractions,” Hasanin said on Sunday, October 4, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The move comes after the Foreigners Supervision Team (Timpora) in Tangerang Regency detained 13 Chinese nationals in an early October joint operation. They were allegedly engaged in unauthorized work, reportedly earning up to IDR 1.2 million (USD 67.76) per day.
Hasanin emphasized that cross‑agency collaboration is essential to strengthen oversight. “We will ensure every foreign national in Tangerang carries out activities according to the permits granted. Any violations will be dealt with under the law,” he said.
Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) in Tangerang City, Wawan Fauzi, added that his office continues to bolster early vigilance through monitoring the presence of foreigners. He noted that regular surveillance, conducted jointly with relevant agencies, is part of maintaining public order and ensuring compliance.
“Monitoring and supervision are part of early vigilance. We make sure foreigners are properly recorded and that administrative and legal requirements are consistently observed,” Wawan said.
Authorities pledged to maintain routine checks and inter‑agency cooperation to ensure the activities of foreign nationals in Tangerang remain within legal boundaries. ***
