RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste said Germany is ready to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia through high-tech investments, particularly in the energy, trade, healthcare, and security sectors.
“Germany is ready to provide many high-tech investments in Indonesia,” Beste said at a celebration of German Unity Day in Jakarta on Friday night, October 2, 2026.
He explained that German industries have contributed to several projects in Indonesia, including signaling technology for the Light Rail Transit (LRT), solar power, energy transition, and the development of power grids in Sulawesi. According to Beste, Germany also supports the development of renewable energy projects and cooperation under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
Beyond the energy sector, Beste said Germany also supports negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the European Union and Indonesia.
“Germany, as the largest country in the European Union, supports the EU-Indonesia CEPA negotiations,” he said.
He added that cooperation between the two countries also covers the healthcare sector. German companies, including those operating in the nutrition sector, have been partners in providing nutritious materials for Indonesian women and children to support a well-balanced diet.
“Companies like Vaya (Vaya Medical) are very strong partners for Indonesia in providing Indonesians with nutritious materials for women and children to get well-balanced nutrition,” Beste said.
In the security and humanitarian sectors, Beste said Germany, together with its European partners, had delivered two Airbus A400M transport aircraft to Indonesia. According to him, the aircraft have contributed to disaster response efforts, including the delivery of humanitarian assistance during floods in Sumatra and fires in Kalimantan.
Germany has also cooperated with Indonesia in providing the KIA Econopus research vessel, which was jointly built by Indonesian and German companies. Beste said the vessel helps Indonesia survey its waters, which play an important role in maintaining the smooth flow of global trade.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the CEPA agreement between Indonesia and the European Union would lead to lower trade tariffs. “With CEPA, tariffs will be close to zero,” Airlangga said.
Asked about tariffs on German cars, Airlangga said the tariffs would also be close to zero percent, taking into account the existing trade scheme. “Because I think under the current scheme there is also a completely knocked-down [CKD] facility, so there are facilities as well,” he said.
