RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) received representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at the Indonesian Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday, September 28, 2026. The meeting discussed revisions to the Act on the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition, as well as developments in Indonesia's accession process to become an OECD member.

Lawmaker Adisatrya Suryo Sulisto said the meeting was a reciprocal visit by the OECD following the House's visit to the OECD headquarters in Paris, France in mid-April 2026. He said input from the OECD was important to the process of revising the regulation.

The House said the OECD has experience in helping various countries develop competition regulations that are in line with international best practices. "The input from the OECD is very valuable and important because they also work with many countries in developing sound regulations, including best practices in developed countries," Adisatrya said.

In addition to the revision of the law governing the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU), the meeting also discussed developments in Indonesia's accession process to the OECD. Adisatrya said the process was still ongoing and that there were several matters that the government needed to resolve.

"Indonesia is currently in that process. It has not been completed yet, and there are still matters that need to be resolved by the government. The OECD also provided us with updates earlier, and of course, we are ready to support Indonesia's efforts to join the OECD," he said.

Adisatrya, of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), added that the House hoped the revision of the KPPU law could be completed soon. He said discussions on the bill by the House's Working Committee had already made considerable progress.

Meanwhile, the DPR also expressed hope that Indonesia's accession process to the OECD could be completed soon. According to Adisatrya, Indonesia's OECD membership would be important for strengthening cooperation and developing regulations that benefit the public.

"Secondly, of course, we hope that Indonesia can soon become a member of the OECD. The OECD is a prestigious organization, and if Indonesia joins, it would become the first ASEAN country to do so. So, of course, we support that," he concluded.
