Saudi Arabia Highlights Stability as Pilgrimage, Tourism Continue to Grow

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al-Amoudi said the security situation in the kingdom remains stable for residents, pilgrims, and tourists, even as regional concerns persist following reported attacks linked to Yemen's Houthi movement.

"The situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently very safe and stable for residents and pilgrims who wish to undertake religious visits," Faisal said on the sidelines of the 96th Saudi National Day celebration in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

According to the ambassador, continued growth in the number of visitors arriving for Hajj, Umrah, and tourism reflects international confidence in the country's security conditions. "We know that many people continue to visit Saudi Arabia for Hajj, Umrah, and tourism. If the country were not safe, we would not see this level of visitation," he added.

Saudi Arabia marked its 96th National Day on September 23, 2026. In Indonesia, the celebration was also symbolized by the display of the Saudi national flag on a giant LED screen at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout area in Central Jakarta.

Ambassador Faisal said the occasion was more than a commemoration of the kingdom's history, describing it as a reflection of Saudi Arabia's progress and its role both regionally and internationally.

"This celebration is not only about remembering history, but also about expressing pride in Saudi Arabia's stability, development, modernization, and its role in the region and the world," he emphasized.

The event was attended by a number of Indonesian government officials and prominent figures, including Minister of Hajj and Umrah Affairs Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Stella Christie, Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Affairs Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, and Gontor Islamic boarding school leader Hasan Abdullah Sahal.

Several foreign ambassadors based in Jakarta also attended the celebration, highlighting the kingdom's ongoing diplomatic engagement with Indonesia and the broader international community. ***
