RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Vice Minister of Creative Economy and Vice Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, said the collaboration between Visinema and Discovery Ancol Hotel through the JUMBO-themed experience is an example of how local intellectual property (IP) can be developed across various industries. Irene said intellectual property development does not have to stop at the original work, but can be expanded into various forms of creative experiences and products that add value to the creative economy ecosystem.
“From the beginning, when I spoke with Angga, the dream was for Indonesia to have IP that could become evergreen and not be limited to just one type of work. Today, we are seeing how Indonesian IP can be developed into new works and experiences that are closer to the public,” Irene said while attending the launch of the JUMBO x Discovery Ancol Hotel collaboration in Jakarta on Monday, September 21, 2026.
According to her, IP development requires an ecosystem that can connect creators with opportunities for development across various sectors.
“Our role is to create opportunities for creators to connect with the right industries and markets. That way, Indonesian IP has the opportunity to grow across various sectors,” she said.
Meanwhile, Founder and CEO of Visinema Group Angga Dwimas Sasongko said JUMBO was created as an effort to present an Indonesian story that resonates with the public and has the potential for continued development.
“JUMBO began with a dream of seeing Indonesian children grow up with stories from their own homeland, featuring characters and a world that are close to their everyday lives. To allow the story to continue growing, collaboration from various parties who share the same vision is needed,” Angga said.
President Director of PT Marina Ancol Green Hotel Peni Rahmawati said Discovery Ancol Hotel presents the JUMBO experience through a hospitality approach by bringing elements of the film’s story into a physical space.
“Through this collaboration, Discovery Ancol Hotel offers a themed stay experience that brings JUMBO’s characters and visual elements into the hotel environment, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the story firsthand,” Peni said.
The JUMBO x Discovery Ancol Hotel collaboration features 53 JUMBO-themed rooms on the fifth floor of Discovery Ancol Hotel. The rooms incorporate distinctive JUMBO visual elements, ranging from corridor decorations to interiors designed around the world depicted in the film.
In addition to the themed rooms, the JUMBO experience is also presented in several areas of the hotel, including the Diorama South Lobby, featuring Don’s Room, Oma’s Living Room, and Nurman’s Bicycle, as well as the Kampung Seruni and Stage areas in the North Lobby.
The experience is complemented by various JUMBO-themed culinary offerings as part of the collaboration. The JUMBO x Discovery Ancol Hotel collaboration represents one model for developing Indonesian IP through a creative business model that connects creative works, experiences, and various industry sectors.
