Indonesian Diaspora Supports Asian Games Contingent in Nagoya

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo appreciated the Indonesian diaspora’s support for the national contingent at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026. Indonesian citizens joined local Japanese residents in traditional art performances in Nagoya, Japan.

The Indonesian Students Association (PPI) Nagoya and Bhinneka Nagoya School helped enliven the One Asia World Festival, an international cultural event hosted by the Nagoya City Administration on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

“I truly admire the enthusiasm of the Indonesian community, who gave their best to support the Indonesian delegation for the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games,” said Coordinator for Social and Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, in a statement on Sunday, September 20.

PPI Nagoya presented six traditional dances, including Sinanggar Tulo, Jaipong, Wonderland Indonesia, and an Acehnese dance. The performances captivated thousands of Japanese spectators who filled the venue.

PPI Nagoya Chairperson Flady Faliyenco Franggaratz Abubakar Pae highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy on the international stage. The regional cultural showcases were held on an open-air stage near Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya.

“We hope this introduction to Indonesian culture will inspire Indonesian athletes at the 2026 Asian Games. We wish the Indonesian contingent great success and hope they bring home many medals,” Flady said.

The One Asia World Festival also featured traditional arts and cuisines from various countries. The Bestari Nusantara Nagoya dance troupe underwent three months of intensive training to perform the Acehnese Ratoh Jaroe dance.

“We are very happy to have taken part in the festivities for the Asian Games. Best of luck to our fellow athletes competing for the Red and White,” said Fadillah, a representative of the Bestari Nusantara Nagoya dancers.

This cultural support has strengthened solidarity among Indonesian communities living in Japan. The unity shown by the diaspora is expected to further boost the fighting spirit of national athletes on the competition field. (Gusti Panji)
