Indonesians in Nagoya Support Indonesian Contingent at 2026 Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesians living in Nagoya, Japan, showed their support for the Indonesian contingent competing at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games through cultural performances at the One Asia World event on Saturday, September 19, 2026. According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on Saturday, the Indonesian Students Association (PPI) Nagoya and Bhinneka School Nagoya performed a number of Indonesian traditional arts at the event organized by the Nagoya City Government.

Japanese visitors attending the event appeared enthusiastic as they watched various Indonesian cultural performances, which also served as a form of direct support for Indonesian athletes.

Coordinator of the Information, Social, and Cultural Affairs Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, appreciated the participation of the Indonesian community in supporting the Indonesian contingent while introducing Indonesian culture to the Japanese public.

“I salute the enthusiasm of Indonesians who are making every effort to support the Indonesian contingent at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The various cultural performances presented by our friends also serve as an opportunity to promote Indonesia among people in Nagoya and surrounding areas,” Muhammad Al Aula said.

He said PPI Nagoya and Bhinneka School Nagoya had also contributed as Indonesian cultural ambassadors in Japan.

Muhammad Al Aula attended the event accompanied by Third Secretary of the Consular Protocol Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Nadya Nabila Hayanto, and Senior Administrative Officer Elvitria Intan Novita.

Chairman of PPI Nagoya Flady Faliyenco Franggaratz Abubakar Pae, popularly known as Bomby, said PPI Nagoya had prepared various cultural performances to support the Indonesian contingent while entertaining Indonesians and the local Japanese community.

“We were specifically invited by the Nagoya City Government to help enliven the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and Asian Para Games. We were asked to showcase Indonesian culture at the One Asia World event,” Bomby said.

During Saturday’s performance, PPI Nagoya presented six dances, including Sinanggar Tulo, Jaipong, Wonderland Indonesia, and traditional dances from Aceh.

Bomby said PPI Nagoya would also perform again on September 24 and 25, 2026.“We hope that through the introduction of Indonesian culture, we can further inspire Indonesian athletes competing at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Hopefully, the Indonesian contingent can bring home many medals,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fadilah Asril, a doctoral student in Pharmacy at Nagoya City University who is a member of Sanggar Bestari Nusantara Nagoya, said she was proud to perform the Ratoh Jaroe dance from Aceh.

“We are very happy to take part and enliven the Asian Games. We practiced for three months so that we could give our best performance. Best wishes to our fellow athletes. Keep fighting for the Red and White,” Fadilah said.

In addition to Indonesian cultural performances, the One Asia World event also featured traditional arts and culinary offerings from Japan, Indonesia, and several other Asian countries.
