RRI.CO.ID, Bangkok – Indonesia's state-owned energy company, Pertamina, is strengthening its national energy security strategy through flexible and integrated Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) portfolio management. By combining domestic and global supply sources with gas infrastructure across various regions, this strategy became a key focus for Pertamina at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
As quoted in a written press release on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the company’s presence at this global energy forum aims to expand connectivity with world energy industry players. Consequently, it helps bolster opportunities for LNG portfolio and business development amid a shifting global energy landscape.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, Muhammad Baron, emphasized that source diversification and portfolio flexibility are critical during global market shifts. To keep the country's energy running smoothly, leaders at companies like Pertamina evaluate multiple fuel-sourcing methods.
"For Pertamina, energy security is not just about how much supply is available, but the ability to source energy from the right provider, at the right time, at a competitive cost. Therefore, source diversification and LNG portfolio flexibility are essential to strengthening Indonesia's energy security," Baron stated.
To enhance this flexibility, Pertamina is expanding its LNG portfolio across multiple sources. Beyond optimizing domestic supply, the company maintains an international portfolio featuring sources from Australia and the United States, among others.
Consequently, this diversification allows Pertamina to adjust supply sources and delivery patterns based on operational needs and market conditions. Therefore, this supply flexibility is backed by the Pertamina Group’s LNG and gas infrastructure, including Perta Arun Gas, Nusantara Regas, the Jawa-1 LNG receiving facility, and PGN’s extensive gas pipeline network spanning Indonesia.
Moreover, the integration of supply sources, storage facilities, regasification, and distribution forms the foundation of a more adaptive LNG supply chain. Through this ecosystem, LNG can be managed precisely according to specific demands from storage to regional distribution.
"Pertamina possesses a complementary LNG portfolio and gas infrastructure. Integrating supply sources, receiving and storage facilities, regasification, and distribution networks gives Pertamina the flexibility to match supply with energy needs across various regions," Baron said.
