RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo — The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo brought together Indonesian game studios and Japanese gaming industry players through the Tokyo Game Gathering at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, ahead of the opening of Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2026 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba. The event brought together Indonesian game studios participating in the “Games from Jakarta” Pavilion with Japanese publishers, investors, industry associations, and media outlets.

The Tokyo Game Gathering was held in cooperation with the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office and the Indonesian Game Association (AGI). About 30 industry players attended, including representatives from VIPO, the ASEAN-Japan Centre, Dentsu, Media Create, Sorajima, and AMCEY.

Six Indonesian game studios, Dream Forge Creation, SkyFy Studio, Rizero Studios, Re: Halu, Separuh Interactive, and Vifth Floor, presented their games and development plans. The works showcased included an action-adventure game set against the backdrop of Indonesian history, a cozy life-simulation game, a conversation-based narrative game, and a mobile game with millions of players across Southeast Asia.

Coordinator of the Economic Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Gatot Hari Gunawan, said the gathering gave Indonesian and Japanese industry players a chance to build business connections ahead of TGS 2026.

“This year’s 30th edition of TGS will be a massive update, as for the first time the event will be held for five full days. With more than 750 exhibitors from 51 countries and a target of reaching 300,000 visitors,” Gatot said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said Indonesia is participating in the event through the “Games from Jakarta” Pavilion.

The format of the gathering also builds on Indonesia’s participation in TGS 2025. At the time, Indonesia recorded 86 business meetings with potential transactions valued at 8.77 million US dollars. One of the participating studios, Vifth Floor, signed a 150,000-US-dollar game development contract about one month after the exhibition ended.

Japan is one of the world’s largest gaming markets. Japan’s game content market reached 2.59 trillion yen in 2025, growing by 8 percent. Meanwhile, TGS 2026 marks the 30th edition of the event and, for the first time, will be held over five days from September 17 to 21, 2026, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

The event, organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA), will feature more than 750 exhibitors from 51 countries and regions, with a target attendance of around 300,000 visitors.
