RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is preparing to propose the creative economy as a new global development agenda. The initiative was delivered during the dissemination meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The proposal will be submitted through the upcoming World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026. Creative Economy Minister and Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, said the results will be presented directly to the United Nations (UN).

The global initiative is being carried out in close collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The strategic move aims to establish creative economy as an official global agenda after the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) end in 2030.

Riefky said the world is currently seeking new sustainable development models to boost global welfare. Indonesia is taking a leading role because its creative economy development is widely recognized globally.

The international conference will gather over 8,000 participants from more than 50 countries in Jakarta. Riefky stated that the meeting serves as a key platform to promote creative economy agreements to the global level.

“The document that will be concluded in this event, which we are preparing together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be brought to the UN, to the United Nations, to be designated as part of the preparations for the creative economy as a world agenda after the SDGs Agenda ends in 2030,” he said.

He added that many countries now recognize the strategic role of creative sectors in long-term development. Indonesia feels confident leading this movement as it now has 21 active creative subsectors.

This progress is further strengthened by the Long-Term Creative Economy Master Plan (Rindekraf) 2026–2045. Riefky emphasized that strong synergy between the central government and local governments is needed to maximize its local economic impact.

“So ladies and gentlemen, God willing, Indonesia is moving further ahead than several other countries and its development has been recognized as very significant, now it is just a matter of how our central and regional governments unite together to improve the quality and impact of the creative economy sector so that this can have an impact on job creation in our regions, the economy in our regions, and also its contribution to Regional GDP which is also a target of regional governments,” he added.
