RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has once again been accorded a place of honor on Russia’s global stage, joining the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok at the special invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Putin personally invited President Prabowo as the forum’s chief guest, underscoring the growing closeness between Indonesia and Russia.

“This reflects the strengthening ties built through direct diplomacy between the two leaders,” Teddy noted in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, September 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Prabowo’s presence at the EEF follows his appearance last year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), also as Putin’s guest of honor.

Teddy emphasized that Russia now regards Indonesia as a principal strategic partner in the Asia‑Pacific, a respected ASEAN member, and a key representative of both the Global South and the Muslim world.

During his visit, Prabowo is scheduled to attend the forum’s main sessions and hold bilateral talks with President Putin. He is accompanied by senior ministers including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Higher Education Minister Brian Yuliarto, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The delegation departed Jakarta aboard Garuda Indonesia‑1 from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at 11:20 p.m. local time on Tuesday. The visit is expected to advance Indonesia’s strategic investment goals while reinforcing its diplomatic standing in global affairs. ***
