Inside Bertam Resort, Home to the Largest Ensuite Pool of Any Resort in Malaysia

RRI.CO.ID, Kepala Batas - The hospitality industry is no longer just offering comfortable stays, but is now competing to provide unusual facilities to attract both domestic and international tourists. One of the increasingly popular trends is rooms with private pools or ensuite pools, which offer privacy and an exclusive staycation experience.

One of the hotels that successfully presents this concept is Bertam Resort & Water Park, located in Kepala Batas, Seberang Perai Utara, which is about an hour's drive from George Town, Penang. Unlike George Town, which is synonymous with historical and culinary tourism, this area offers another face of Penang, especially for tourists looking for family recreation in the concept of a short getaway.

The Moroccan ambiance is clearly visible from the Moorish architectural style that envelops the entire 8.09-hectare resort area. Within it stand various supporting facilities, ranging from restaurants, public swimming pools, fitness centers, to large-scale water parks.

However, the standout feature of Bertam Resort is its "Pool Suite" room category. These units are equipped with private pools, earning Bertam Resort a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for having the largest ensuite pool in the hotel room category in Malaysia.

A similar concept is applied at Bertam Wellness Spa & Villas, a collection of villas featuring Moroccan and Oriental ornamentation. Some of these units also come equipped with private pools, bathtubs, and even direct access to the lagoon area.

The complex opened in phases: the water park welcomed visitors first in late 2022, followed by the resort section in mid-2023, before the entire property was fully inaugurated in September of that same year. Guests who wish to stay can choose from eight room types, ranging from Superior and Deluxe classes for basic needs, Family Quadruple for family groups, to more exclusive suite classes such as Executive, Club, Loft, Royal, and of course the Pool Suite with its private swimming pool.

The water park itself offers two distinct atmospheres: extreme attractions like the Dawwama Tornado, Rush Racer, Voyager, Salalah Raft, and Sceirah Drop for adrenaline seekers and, in contrast to the adventure zone, more relaxed areas such as Pearl Oasis, Blue Lagoon, and the Wetventure Course.

Beyond the water attractions, the facility also features a children's playground, a games room, the Family Fun Zone Arcade, the Kechmara Wellness Centre, and a gymnasium. Dining options are also plentiful, including Palace of Flavours, Cafetière Lounge, Citrus Bar, and Cafe Chef Wan.
