VP Gibran Backs Training Centers to Strengthen Japan Internship Readiness

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has thrown his support behind efforts to establish integrated training centers for Indonesian interns preparing to work in Japan, emphasizing the need to build human resources who are not only skilled but also culturally adaptable.

During a meeting with Chairman of the Indonesian Kenshusei Entrepreneurs Association (IKAPEKSI), Pranyoto Widodo, and his board at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on August 28, Gibran discussed ways to improve pre-departure preparation for prospective interns. According to the Vice President’s Secretariat, the initiative aims to ensure candidates are equipped with both technical competence and an understanding of Japanese work culture.

Pranyoto explained that the training centers would serve as mandatory orientation hubs. “With a living training center, every young Indonesian heading to Japan must undergo about two weeks of education on Japanese work culture and daily life. This is very important,” he said, as quoted by Antara, on Monday, August 31, 2026.

He added that the proposal received a positive response from Gibran, who viewed it as a crucial step toward enhancing the quality of Indonesian interns and maximizing the benefits of their overseas experience. “The Vice President was very supportive of the training center idea,” Pranyoto noted.

IKAPEKSI, a national organization that unites alumni of Japan’s internship and training programs, has long advocated for structured preparation. The association believes that stronger cultural and professional readiness will help interns succeed abroad and contribute more effectively upon returning home.

Beyond individual career growth, the initiative is expected to generate wider benefits. Alumni are encouraged to apply their skills in Indonesia through competency development, knowledge transfer, and entrepreneurship, ensuring that the experience gained in Japan strengthens both personal careers and national capacity. ***
