Australia, Indonesia Build up Agricultural Partnerships

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Australian Agriculture Trade Diversification Representative, Su McCluskey, visited Lampung and Jakarta from 24-28 August. She was accompanied with a delegation of Australian agribusiness leaders to strengthen commercial ties with Indonesia and support new partnerships across the agriculture sector.

Indonesia is one of Australia’s most important agriculture partners. The visit supports Australia's efforts to grow and diversify two-way trade and investment, and the continued importance of Australia’s strategic agribusiness partnership with Indonesia in line with the Indonesian government’s food security priorities.

According to a release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Delegates met with Indonesian Government and industry leaders and visited agribusiness operations in Lampung and Jakarta to explore opportunities for collaboration in food production, processing, innovation and supply chains.

"Indonesia is a vital partner for Australian agriculture and one of the most dynamic food and agribusiness markets. The practical market intelligence, country priorities and insights gained through these engagements will help inform future trade and market diversification efforts and support stronger commercial outcomes for Australian agricultural businesses," Su McCluskey said.

Meanwhile, Australian Embassy Chargé d'Affaires to Indonesia, Gita Kamath conveyed Australia and Indonesia share a strong and enduring agricultural partnership built on trust, mutual benefit and a shared commitment to food security. She said this visit provides an important opportunity to strengthen relationships of both countries' industries and identify new areas for collaboration that support productivity and supply chain resilience,”

Trade Diversification Network (TDN) member, the National Farmers' Federation, led a delegation with participation from Australian Livestock Exporters' Council, Grain Growers Limited and Meat & Livestock Australia participated on the visit.

TDN has been set up to deliver the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI). The network consists of 40 national peak industry bodies – representing Australian exporters.

Through TDN, the Australian Government and industry are uniting to support exporters to diversify and grow into new markets, leveraging the combined capabilities and expertise of government and industry.
