RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is considered to have strong potential to strengthen its high‑tech development. Taiwan views the artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor sectors as promising areas to expand cooperation between the two sides.

Secretary General of Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), Yu‑Lin Huang, said the development of AI data centers and investments by Taiwanese companies are key assets for Indonesia.

“When it comes to technological cooperation, now is the right time for us to strengthen it. We need to enhance our relationship through technological cooperation,” Huang said during a meeting with a media delegation in Taipei as part of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy (NSP) on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Huang noted that Indonesia has several AI data centers capable of supporting the development of this technology. He added that investments by Taiwanese companies in Indonesia also open opportunities to deepen technological collaboration.

“Indonesia is generally in an excellent position to further develop high‑tech industries. And I expect that our relationship (between Taiwan and Indonesia) can be strengthened in such a way as to facilitate our future technological cooperation,” he said.

In addition to technology, Taiwan’s ICDF is collaborating with Hasanuddin University in South Sulawesi on the development of new corn varieties. This feed corn seed industry project will run through December 2028.

The program aims to establish a commercial hybrid corn seed production model and a domestic hybrid seed supply chain. The program targets domestically produced F1 flint corn seeds to reach 22.5 percent in South Sulawesi.

“From farm to market, that’s also very crucial. You can see that high‑end retail stores accept farmers’ high‑quality produce. So, it’s more profitable for farmers to sell their products directly to the market,” Huang said.

The ICDF is also developing an agribusiness incubation and marketing project in West Java to improve production technology, supply chain management, and farmers’ access to processed food markets. The project runs through December 2028 and aims to increase the sales value of participating agribusinesses by 75 percent.

The program also creates opportunities for technology transfer and business matching for Taiwanese small and medium‑sized enterprises in Indonesia’s agribusiness sector. Huang believes the link between production and the market is crucial to increasing economic benefits for farmers while strengthening food security. ***
