The 81st RI Independence Day: Russian Envoy Praises Indonesia’s Global Role

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia commemorated its 81st independence day on Monday, August 2026. Related to this, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Tolchenov, extended his congratulations to the Indonesian government and people.

"On behalf of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Indonesia and my own behalf I wish extend my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the 81st Independence Day of Indonesia,” Tolchenov said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday, August 17, 2026.

He praised Indonesia's increasingly important role in regional and international affairs, particularly its contribution to promoting dialogue, stability, and cooperation. “We highly appreciate Indonesia's growing role in regional and international affairs and its contribution to promoting dialogue, stability and cooperation.”

Tolchenov affirmed Russia’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Indonesia, both bilaterally and through various multilateral forums, including the United Nations, ASEAN, and BRICS. “Russia remains committed to further strengthening our partnership with Indonesia, both bilaterally and within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations, ASEAN and BRICS,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries would continue to grow, enabling Russia and Indonesia to open new opportunities for cooperation and achieve further successes together.

“Russia and Indonesia enjoy a strategic partnership founded on mutual respect, equality, and shared commitments to the principles of international law,” he said.

On the occasion of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, Tolchenov also wished the Indonesian people good health, peace, prosperity, and continued progress, as well as success in realizing the aspirations of the nation.
