International Delegates Praise Islamic Values in Banyuwangi

RRI.CO.ID, Banyuwangi - International delegates praised the hospitality of Banyuwangi residents during an Islamic justice conference. The event took place in Banyuwangi on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

The International Course & Experiential Learning: Islamic Justice "Access to Justice in Southeast Asia 2026" gathered participants from various countries. The conference explored the implementation of Islamic values in public life and governance.

A total of 26 international delegates from 12 countries joined the program. They also visited several neighboring regencies through experiential learning activities before the conference.

Participant from Pakistan, Fehmida Kanwal, said the visit broadened her understanding of Islamic practices. She appreciated how Islamic values are reflected in different aspects of daily life.

“I learned a lot here about how Islam is implemented well in various aspects,” she said.

Participant from the United States, Destiny Perez Orozco, also shared her positive impressions after meeting local stakeholders. She said the experience provided broader perspectives on Islamic values.

“This experience has given us broader new insights,” she said.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, said Islamic values guide inclusive governance and public services. She explained that maqasid al-sharia principles underpin the regency's public policy.

The conference was organized by The Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism and Migration (CHRM2), Faculty of Law, University of Jember, in collaboration with Cordoba Islamic University Banyuwangi. Rector Prof. Agus Trihartono said the university aims to develop Banyuwangi into a new international Islamic academic hub.
