RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have committed to increasing bilateral trade to USD 20 billion by 2030, marking a major step toward expanding economic cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand.

The commitment was announced during the Second Indonesia-Thailand Leaders' Consultation at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 3, 2026. President Prabowo said economic cooperation remains the cornerstone of relations between the two countries.

"We are optimistic that the trade target of USD 20 billion by 2030 can be achieved through the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Roadmap," he said.

During the state visit, Indonesia and Thailand also adopted the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026-2030, which will serve as a framework for strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

The roadmap follows agreements reached at the 2026 ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Philippines, and reinforces the Leaders' Consultation mechanism established in 2025.

In the economic sector, both countries agreed to expand investment and improve market access. They will establish a Joint Trade Commission, the first bilateral mechanism dedicated to identifying business opportunities and resolving trade barriers.

"We also agreed to strengthen cooperation in food security, particularly in agricultural technology, logistics, food processing, and supply chain resilience," President Prabowo said.

Indonesia and Thailand also plan to launch the Indonesia-Thailand Energy Forum to enhance energy security. Cooperation in the digital economy and the use of Local Currency Transactions (LCT) will also be expanded to improve the efficiency of trade and investment.

"With each country's strengths in the halal industry, Indonesia and Thailand can support one another in building regional and global halal value chains," the President added.

Prime Minister Anutin expressed confidence that economic ties between the two countries would continue to grow, noting that Indonesia and Thailand together represent a market of around 350 million people.

"We agreed that Thailand and Indonesia have tremendous potential, particularly in increasing bilateral trade and investment," PM Anutin said. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
