RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia is placing digital cooperation at the heart of its long-standing ties with Switzerland, underscoring the European nation’s role as a global hub for technology and multilateral dialogue.
Speaking at the Swiss National Day 2026 celebration in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, July 29, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid highlighted that bilateral relations between the two countries--spanning more than seven decades--have evolved from trade and investment into collaboration on digital transformation.
“We are very open to exploring innovation opportunities in the digital sector to broaden our bilateral horizons. I am confident that synergy between Indonesia and Switzerland will grow stronger,” she said in a press statement confirmed on Thursday, July 30, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Minister Meutya noted Switzerland’s importance not only as a bilateral partner but also as a strategic venue for global digital diplomacy.
From the World Economic Forum in Davos to platforms such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), Switzerland has become central to Indonesia’s engagement in international digital governance.
She also emphasized that the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations reflects a partnership built on trust and mutual respect, enriched by strong people-to-people connections.
Minister Meutya expressed appreciation for the role of the Swiss Ambassador in strengthening ties and wished success for his next assignment.
The cooperation reflects Indonesia’s broader ambition to position itself as a proactive player in global digital policy while expanding innovation partnerships.
