RRI.CO.ID, Yekaterinburg – Indonesia’s status as the Partner Country at INNOPROM 2026 paves the way for national businesses to penetrate Russia’s industrial supply chains. Through a bilateral meeting with the Kirov Region government, one of Russia’s key manufacturing hubs, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering trade in raw materials, chemical products, industrial components, and technology transfer.

The agreement was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and Mikhail Anatolyevich Sandalov, Chairman of the Kirov Region Government of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the INNOPROM 2026 International Industrial Exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Russia. This was cited in a written press release from the ministry received on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. This cooperation is expected to spur more concrete business partnerships while strengthening the exchange of economic information between Indonesia and the Kirov Region.

“We welcome the growing ties between the Ministry of Industry and the Kirov Regional Government. This momentum opens up broader opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the fields of the economy, investment, and technology. Indonesia’s participation as a Partner Country at INNOPROM 2026 underscores our strong commitment to strengthening economic partnerships with strategic regions such as Kirov,” Agus said during the bilateral meeting.

According to him, the Kirov Region is one of Russia’s industrial areas with a strong manufacturing base, making it a potential partner for Indonesia. This cooperation is expected to expand trade, attract investment, accelerate technology transfer, and enhance the capacity of the industrial workforce.

The meeting also resulted in a mutual understanding regarding the direction of cooperation to be developed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Kirov Regional Government. Both parties are committed to strengthening partnerships among business actors, facilitating cooperation between organizations, and organizing consultations, seminars, conferences, and various joint activities to support the development of the industrial sector.

In addition, both parties are committed to enhancing information exchange to strengthen international economic relations and open opportunities for more specific cooperation in the future. For Indonesia, this cooperation serves as a first step toward expanding market access, attracting investment, and strengthening industrial networks with the Kirov Region.

On the other hand, the partnership with the Kirov Region opens new opportunities for Indonesian businesses to supply raw materials, chemical products, and industrial components to meet the needs of Russian industry. These opportunities are expected to mark the beginning of a more integrated supply chain while accelerating the emergence of sustainable business cooperation.

The Director General of Industrial Resilience, Regional Development, and International Access (KPAII), Tri Supondy, stated that follow-up actions after the bilateral meeting are a crucial step toward realizing the various cooperation opportunities discussed. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry is inviting business representatives from the Kirov Region to visit the Indonesian Pavilion at INNOPROM 2026 or to come directly to Indonesia to explore investment and industrial partnership opportunities.
