RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is positioning itself as a key facilitator in efforts to restore peace in Myanmar, with senior officials reiterating the country’s readiness to host dialogue among conflicting parties under the framework of ASEAN Five‑Point Consensus (5PC).

Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir emphasized that Indonesia continues to encourage dialogue between military‑backed authorities and ethnic groups.

Speaking after a meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission I in Jakarta on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Arrmanatha underlined Indonesia’s commitment to reconciliation in Myanmar, which has been mired in prolonged civil conflict.

“We continue to facilitate dialogue between military‑supported authorities and various ethnic groups there,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

Indonesia’s role dates back to April 2021, when Jakarta hosted the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting that produced the Five‑Point Consensus, now the main reference for regional efforts to push for peace in Myanmar. The consensus calls for an immediate end to violence, inclusive dialogue, and safe humanitarian assistance.

The commitment was reaffirmed during the informal ASEAN foreign ministers’ meeting with Myanmar in Bangkok on July 12, 2026, where ministers pledged to uphold the 5PC as the foundation for reconciliation. Arrmanatha emphasized that Indonesia remains prepared to host peace talks whenever needed.
