RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has expressed its deepest condolences on the passing of former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who led the country from 1995 to 2013. The message of condolence was conveyed by Indonesia's Foreign Minister, Sugiono during his visit to the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. We extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani," he said.

The Foreign Minister described Sheikh Hamad as a key figure who played a pivotal role in Qatar's development and transformation into a country with significant global influence. He also credited Sheikh Hamad with strengthening the longstanding bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Qatar.

"He was a leader who transformed Qatar into a highly influential nation. In terms of Indonesia-Qatar relations, he also played a major and active role in fostering the close ties between our two countries, a partnership that continues today under the leadership of the Emir and President Prabowo Subianto," he said.

Sugiono also offered prayers for the late Sheikh Hamad, asking that he be granted the highest place in the presence of Allah Almighty. He further expressed hope that the people of Qatar would be given strength and continue to draw inspiration from Sheikh Hamad's leadership and lifelong service.

"We pray that he is granted the highest place in the presence of Allah Almighty, and that the people of Qatar are blessed with strength and continue to be inspired by his leadership and dedication," he said.

During the visit, Sugiono also expressed hope that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar would continue to grow stronger. According to him, Qatar is a strategic partner for Indonesia in advancing shared goals through enhanced cooperation across various sectors.

"I believe the strong relationship we have built will continue to develop harmoniously. Qatar also plays a strategic role in working together with Indonesia to achieve our shared objectives," Sugiono said.
