RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and Bangladesh are moving to deepen cooperation in the halal sector, with discussions centered on product assurance and the establishment of a foreign halal institution in Bangladesh.

Head of Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, said the initiative is part of building a stronger global halal ecosystem rooted in standards, trust, and cross-border collaboration.

“Partnerships with friendly nations are a strategic step toward a credible, accountable, and interconnected halal certification system that benefits all parties,” Haikal noted, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that the creation of halal institutions is vital to ensuring smooth international trade in halal products while safeguarding Muslim consumers. The upcoming mandatory halal certification in Indonesia, set for October 2026, is seen not only as a regulatory milestone but also as an opportunity to reinforce global halal governance.

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Tarikul Islam, expressed full support for the initiative, underscoring its importance in easing recognition of Bangladeshi halal products in Indonesia and expanding the reach of Indonesian halal goods in Bangladesh.

This collaboration highlights both countries’ shared commitment to strengthening halal standards and ensuring fair access to the growing global halal market. ***
