RRI.CO.ID, Bali – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia is hosting the Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme National Secretariats Meeting (CPDAP NSM) 2026. This international event is taking place from Tuesday to Thursday, April 28 to 30, 2026, in Bali.

The Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Commissioner General of Police. Suyudi Ario Seto, officially opened the meeting under the theme “Enhancing Regional Cooperation for Effective and Inclusive Drug Use Response.” The theme affirms that the current drug-related problems cannot be overcome by any single country alone, but it requires strong and sustained cross-border cooperation.

“We observe that drug-related challenges are becoming increasingly complex, ranging from the industrial-scale distribution of synthetic drugs, the use of maritime routes, to the exploitation of digital platforms for illegal activities. This is a serious threat that requires a collective response,” the BNN Head emphasized to the media on the sideline of the event.

In an official statement received by RRI VOI on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto also stated that the approach is guided by the principle of “war on drugs for humanity” which means being firm against criminal networks while remaining humane toward victims of drug abuse.

“Indonesia remains consistent in implementing a balanced approach reducing supply through reinforcement of intelligence, border control, and strict law enforcement against organized crime networks, while also reducing demand through prevention and humane, human rights-based rehabilitation,” he conveyed.

Moreover, in terms of prevention, the BNN is strengthening the “Ananda Bersinar” program, which focuses on protecting children and young people through the integration of anti-drug education in schools, reinforcing family roles, life skills training, peer education, digital campaigns, and community empowerment through drug-free village initiatives.

At the CPDAP NSM 2026 meeting, the format has also been made more strategic, featuring panel discussions which explore in depth aspects of drug demand reduction, drug supply reduction, and international cooperation, including cross-agency collaboration and cost-sharing mechanisms.

Meanwhile, delegates will also participate in cultural visits to the Tampaksiring Presidential Palace and Penglipuran Village as part of introducing Indonesian culture and local practices.

The meeting is attended by approximately 50 delegates from various countries across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Asia-Pacific region, and Saudi Arabia. The event aims at expanding collaboration, sharing information, and formulating joint strategies to address global drug threats.

The Head of BNN, Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, stated that Indonesia is ready to play an active role in international cooperation to safeguard future generations from the dangers of drugs. He further expressed hope that the meeting will not only serve as a discussion forum, but also produce concrete, innovative, and implementable recommendations, as well as enlarge the global response to drug-related challenges.
