RRI.CO.ID, Karachi – The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Karachi has facilitated the repatriation of three Indonesian Citizens (WNI) who were victims of the MV Gold Autumn ship incident in the Arabian Sea on April 7, 2026. In a statement from Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs received in Jakarta on Monday, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, Mudzakir, officially saw off the three Indonesians on April 18, 2026, after they had received intensive assistance during the handling process in Karachi.

Since April 10, 2026, KJRI Karachi has taken proactive steps by providing assistance to the three Indonesian crew members, including facilitating the issuance of replacement passports, certificates of loss, and handling various other essential documents required for their repatriation. In addition, KJRI Karachi ensured the fulfillment of the victims’ basic needs during their stay in Karachi as part of efforts to protect Indonesian citizens abroad.

To accelerate the repatriation process, KJRI Karachi coordinated intensively with various relevant parties in both Pakistan and Indonesia, including the ship’s agent, to ensure smooth administrative procedures and the fulfillment of the crew members’ rights in accordance with applicable regulations. After waiting for the completion of documents from several other countries for about one week, the three Indonesian crew members were scheduled to return to Indonesia on April 18, 2026, and were expected to arrive on April 19, 2026.

KJRI Karachi stated it will continue to coordinate with the Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant parties to monitor the repatriation process until the Indonesians arrive safely in the country, while also ensuring follow-up on the fulfillment of their rights.

The three Indonesians also expressed their appreciation for the assistance and hospitality of the Pakistani authorities, as well as the swift response and facilitation provided by KJRI Karachi. The consulate Karachi also urged all Indonesian citizens, particularly those working in the maritime sector, to always keep digital copies of personal documents, store important contact numbers, and immediately contact the nearest Indonesian representative in case of problems or emergencies while on duty.
