Syzygium Aromaticum: Clove Rich in Eugenol for Oral Health

This aromatic flower bud contains eugenol as its primary bioactive compound, along with flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds that contribute to antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities.

According to research published in the journal Phytotherapy Research in 2012, clove and its main compound eugenol demonstrate significant biological activities, particularly antioxidant and antimicrobial effects. The study explained that eugenol works by reducing oxidative stress and interacting with microbial cell structures, supporting the traditional use of clove in health applications.

One of the most recognized benefits of clove is its application in oral health. Eugenol has long been used in dentistry as an ingredient in dental materials because of its analgesic and antimicrobial properties. Research has shown that clove oil may help inhibit oral bacteria associated with dental problems.
