RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Health announced that, as of July, the Free Health Check program has reached 73.8 million Indonesians, representing about 25% of the country's total population of approximately 290 million. The ministry stated this at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

"As of July 31, our Free Health Check program has reached 73 million people who have undergone health screenings. This figure is already higher than last year's achievement," Director General of Primary and Community Health at the ministry, Maria Endang Sumiwi, said.

Of that total, around 62.7 million people underwent health screenings at community health centers and in communities. Meanwhile, 11.1 million children received health examinations at schools.

Maria said that participation in the Free Health Check program has increased across all age groups compared to last year. However, the largest gains have been seen among school-age children and adolescents.

"For the school-age group, 14.6 million children (have been screened), compared with 33,000 last year," she said.

She indicated that the highest participation rates in the program were recorded in the central Indonesian island of Sulawesi. On the island, 48% of the population in Gorontalo Province and 82.6% of residents in Pangkajene and Islands Regency have already received free health checkups.

"So, we would like to express our gratitude to our colleagues at the community health centers (puskesmas) and other primary healthcare facilities for carrying out the Free Health Check program so well," she said.

The Free Health Check program was first launched in February 2025 to make it easier for Indonesians to learn about their health status. The Ministry of Health has targeted 130 million participants this year.
