RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education continues to strengthen Pancasila education as a pillar of character and personality development among students. In line with this effort, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti emphasized that Pancasila education should be strengthened not only through classroom learning, but also through school culture, extracurricular activities, daily habits, and students’ real-life experiences.

Speaking at an Academic Seminar and Workshop themed “Pancasila as the Philosophy and Foundation of the State: Strengthening Pancasila Education in the National Education System,” Minister Abdul Mu’ti said Pancasila education needs to be understood through three key aspects: knowledge of Pancasila, the practice of Pancasila values in everyday life, and the internalization of Pancasila as part of the Indonesian national identity. He said Pancasila learning should continue to evolve so that it does not stop at the level of knowledge.

Therefore, the Ministry is strengthening Pancasila education through deep learning and the optimization of the hidden curriculum, allowing Pancasila values to be reflected in various school activities and cultures. “We want to further strengthen the hidden curriculum. We currently have a deep learning policy, through which we are seeking to strengthen the context and implementation of subjects,” Minister Mu’ti said in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Through this approach, schools are expected to provide students with real-life experiences in practicing Pancasila values. Interactions between teachers and students, relationships among students, and various school activities are considered important elements in developing a culture that reflects national values.

In addition to classroom learning, the strengthening of nationalism is also carried out through extracurricular activities and daily habits. The Scout Movement is one of the means of strengthening students’ character, while a wider range of extracurricular activities can provide opportunities for students to develop skills beyond formal classroom learning.

“We believe that students should have more choices of extracurricular activities. This will allow them to develop skills and abilities beyond the subjects taught through formal lessons,” Mu’ti said.

The Ministry is also strengthening the implementation of flag ceremonies and activities commemorating national holidays. Through these activities, students are encouraged to embrace national values through the Indonesian Student Pledge, which emphasizes faith and devotion, respect for parents and teachers, commitment to learning, harmony with fellow students, and love for the country.

Such efforts are increasingly important because Pancasila values need to be reflected in students’ daily behavior. Love for Indonesia, for example, can be demonstrated through environmental awareness, respect for diversity, the ability to live together harmoniously, and attitudes that reflect national unity.

“Attitudes like these can be developed when students have many experiences in educational institutions that put Pancasila values into practice,” Minister Mu’ti added.

By strengthening learning, school culture, role models, daily habits, and collaborative activities, Pancasila education is expected to become increasingly meaningful for students. The effort is part of a shared commitment to developing a generation of Indonesians who have strong character, respect diversity, love their country, and are prepared to contribute to national development.

The Ministry is optimistic that an education system integrating knowledge and values will provide students with more meaningful learning experiences. With the support of teachers, schools, families, and the entire education ecosystem, Pancasila values are expected to become an integral part of students’ lives and serve as a foundation as they contribute to a more advanced, united, sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia.
