Susi Environmental School Promotes Environmental and Aviation Education

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has welcomed the establishment of Susi Environmental School (SES) in Pangandaran, West Java, as part of efforts to improve education quality while strengthening students’ awareness of the environment. Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq officially inaugurated the school during the Pangandaran Airshow 2026 series on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Fajar said SES represents an important contribution from the private sector to developing a center of educational excellence in Pangandaran. He expressed appreciation for founder Susi Pudjiastuti’s commitment and investment in human resource development through the establishment of the school.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, we would like to thank Ms. Susi Pudjiastuti for her concern and significant investment in human resource development,” Fajar said during the inauguration. He added that the school’s emphasis on outdoor activities could help foster students’ love for nature and the environment.

According to Fajar, environmental awareness has become increasingly important amid rapid technological development and the potential negative influence of smartphones on children. He hopes SES can encourage students to spend more time engaging directly with nature while developing their knowledge and interests beyond digital devices.

Fajar also expressed hope that SES would contribute to improving the quality of education in West Java, particularly in Pangandaran. “Congratulations to Ms. Susi and the team, and may this school bring a new dimension to education and help drive improvements in educational quality in West Java, especially Pangandaran,” he said.

Meanwhile, Susi Pudjiastuti, the founder of SES, expressed her appreciation for the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s support throughout the establishment and inauguration of the school. She said Indonesia has abundant natural beauty and resources that can be further developed by strengthening connections between its islands through aviation.

Susi emphasized the potential of aviation to connect Indonesia’s geographically dispersed regions and support the development of human resources. Through SES, education is expected to introduce students to both environmental awareness and the aviation sector from an early stage.

The establishment of SES adds a new dimension to education in Pangandaran by combining learning, environmental awareness and interest in aviation. The initiative is also expected to contribute to the development of young Indonesians who are more connected to nature and better prepared to explore the country’s potential through education and innovation.
