RRI.CO.ID, South Tangerang - Indonesian student Faris Chariansyah won a bronze medal at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) 2026. The competition took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 2 to 9, 2026.
Faris is a student of State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) Insan Cendekia Serpong. He represented Indonesia at the international nuclear science competition alongside students from 19 countries.
The competition featured theoretical and experimental tests related to nuclear science and technology. He previously won gold in Integrated Physics at the 2025 Indonesian Madrasah Olympiad.
Principal of MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong Hilal Najmi said Faris' achievement demonstrates Indonesian madrasah students' international competitiveness. He also praised Faris and the process he completed before competing at the international level.
“This achievement proves that madrasah students have the ability to compete in science at the international level. We certainly highly appreciate Faris' achievement and the entire process he has gone through,” Hilal Najmi said.
He said the achievement reflects the school's commitment to developing students' interests and abilities in science. The school's training also focuses on scientific thinking and understanding developments in science and technology.
Faris was selected for Indonesia's delegation through a science selection and development process. The selection involved winners of the National Science Olympiad in Physics and Chemistry before Faris and Hilmy Lazuardhy Nurramadhan were chosen.
Hilal also praised Hilmy for his efforts as part of Indonesia's delegation at INSO 2026. He said the international experience remains valuable, even though Hilmy did not receive a medal this time.
