RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang Selatan – Indonesia has sent its first delegation to the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) 2026 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with four high school students representing the country. The international competition is being held from August 2 to 9, 2026, involving 120 students and experts from 19 countries.

Indonesia’s delegation consists of Faris Patria Chariansyah and Hilmy Lazuardhy Nurramadhan from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Insan Cendekia Serpong, as well as Gusti Komang Abhika and Aloysius Gonzaga Duta Setiawan from Kesatuan Bangsa High School.

The Head of MAN IC Serpong, Hilal Najmi, said Faris and Hilmy were selected after competing among medalists of the National Science Olympiad (OSN) in physics and chemistry. The selection was conducted by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

"Faris and Hilmy were selected as Indonesia's delegates for INSO 2026 after going through a selection process among OSN physics and chemistry medalists organized by Puspresnas and BRIN. This is Indonesia's first time sending delegates to INSO."

Hilal said MAN IC Serpong supported the students throughout their preparation, including academic guidance and administrative assistance. The students also participated in training organized by the Nuclear Polytechnic of BRIN in Yogyakarta for several weeks.

The school continues to promote a culture of achievement by introducing students to the success stories of previous graduates. Hilal said these achievements encourage students to pursue further accomplishments in science competitions.

INSO 2026 provides a global platform for students and experts to exchange knowledge in nuclear science. Indonesia’s participation marks a new step in strengthening the country’s involvement in international science competitions.

Through the participation of its young scientists, Indonesia aims to promote scientific talent development and encourage innovation among students. The delegation is expected to gain international experience while representing the country on the global science stage.
