RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is preparing the Annual International Conference on Islamic Science and Society (AICIS+) 2026 to strengthen research impact on national development. The preparation meeting was held in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

The international conference will focus on empirical studies and solutions that support development priorities. The event will be hosted by State Islamic University (UIN) Syekh Nurjati Cirebon with discussions on policy direction, themes, and implementation design.

Director General of Islamic Education at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs Amien Suyitno said AICIS+ 2026 will focus on sustainability and national priorities. He emphasized the need for research that produces practical solutions for society.

“AICIS+ must shift from studies that are dominantly theoretical toward studies that are more empirical, applicable, and provide direct impacts for society and national development,” Amien said.

The conference will highlight Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) studies integrated with Islamic perspectives. Other strategic topics include health, research commercialization, and digital transformation.

The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs also encourages collaboration between Islamic higher education institutions and public universities. The cooperation aims to strengthen interdisciplinary discussions and produce wider research contributions.

Director of Islamic Higher Education Sahiron said AICIS+ should become a platform for innovation through collaboration between Islamic studies and technology. One proposed focus is developing artificial intelligence based on Islamic scholarly knowledge for education and knowledge sharing.

UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon has prepared facilities and digital infrastructure to host the hybrid international conference. The university will also organize side events involving madrasahs, schools, and communities.

AICIS+ 2026 is expected to strengthen its role as an international academic forum connecting Islamic perspectives with science, technology, and Indonesia’s development needs. The conference aims to produce research recommendations and innovations with broader social impacts.
