  • Cocoa reference prices rise amid supply concerns linked to El Niño in West Africa.
  • Indonesia's October export prices vary across cocoa, timber, and forest products, with pine resin falling 3.04 percent.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia has set the Reference Price (RP) for cocoa beans for the October 2026 period at USD 6,057.87 per metric ton (MT). This figure affects the Export Reference Price (ERP) for cocoa beans for October 2026, which stands at USD 5,686 per MT.

Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Tommy Andana, said that the ERP and RP are calculated considering market conditions, developments in international logistics costs, and global trade dynamics.

“Concerns over a decline in the quantity and quality of production due to the impact of El Niño in the main cocoa bean-producing regions, specifically West Africa, have triggered an increase in the RP and ERP for cocoa beans,” he said in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as quoted on the ministry’s official website.

The export duty (BK) on cocoa beans is set at 7.5 percent, as specified in Column 4 of Appendix B of Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 38/2024 in conjunction with PMK No. 68/2025.

Meanwhile, the Export Levy (PE) on cocoa beans is set at 7.5 percent under Annex C of PMK No. 69/2025, as amended by PMK No. 9/2026. The ERP for leather products in October remained unchanged compared to the previous period.

The ERP for chipwood, the ERP for processed wood with a cross-sectional area of 1,000–4,000 mm² from Sungkai plantation forests, and the ERP for special-grade merbau processed wood with a cross-sectional area of 4,000–10,000 mm² also remained unchanged.

There was an increase in the ERP for processed wood with a cross-sectional area of 1,000–4,000 mm² from meranti, mixed forest, other teak varieties, as well as plantation forests of pine, gmelina, acacia, balsa, and eucalyptus.

The ERP for pine resin fell in October to USD 1,020 per metric ton, a decrease of USD 32, or 3.04 percent, compared to September 2026.

Decreases were also observed in the ERP for veneer from natural forests and plantation forests; the ERP for wooden sheets used in packing boxes; the ERP for wood in chips or particles; and the ERP for processed wood with a cross-sectional area of 1,000–4,000 mm² from merbau, other ebony varieties, and plantation forests of rubber and sengon. ***
