IDX Lowers Minimum Stock Price to IDR 1 From IDR 50

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The implementation of a new minimum stock price policy is not expected to put pressure on the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), according to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), which said stock trading has proceeded normally under the new rule.

Starting Sept. 28, 2026, the IDX no longer applies the minimum stock price threshold of IDR 50 per share and has introduced a new floor price of IDR 1 per share.

“We are monitoring the first implementation of the removal of the IDR 50 minimum price, and everything is running well. The entire process, from pre-opening to trading, is proceeding smoothly,” IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik said at the IDX building in Jakarta on Monday, Sept. 28.

Jeffrey also dismissed concerns that the new IDR 1 floor price would put further pressure on the JCI. “That should not be the case,” he said.

He explained that the market had responded positively ahead of the new policy's implementation. In addition, stocks that have long traded at the IDR 50 level carry only a limited weighting in the JCI. “So it is not simply the case that a decline below the IDR 50 price level would put pressure on the JCI,” Jeffrey said.

He added that many stocks had remained at IDR 50 for years without recording any trading activity.

Under the new regulation, the minimum share price is set at IDR 1 per share, providing greater room for price movements. The policy is also expected to boost trading activity in low-priced stocks and improve their liquidity.

The new IDR 1 floor price is further expected to improve the price discovery mechanism, allowing stock prices to better reflect actual market conditions. (Gusti Panji)
