RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya – The Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, conducted a working visit to the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology (TCMIT) in Nagoya, Japan, on Friday, September 18, 2026. The visit was accompanied by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) Vice President/Director I Nyoman Winaya, TMMIN Director H. Watanabe, and TMMIN BOD Advisor Bob Azam.

Through this visit, Indonesia had an excellent opportunity to learn about Toyota's journey in building industrial capabilities and capacities through innovation, technological development, and the strengthening of manufacturing culture. TCMIT is a facility established by the Toyota Group at the historic site where Toyota's development originated, showcasing technological evolution from the textile industry to the automotive sector.

The museum also emphasizes the importance of research, creativity, and manufacturing in industrial development.

Susiwijono stated that Toyota's extensive experience in developing the automotive industry has strong relevance to Indonesia's ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of its manufacturing sector and strengthen its position in the global supply chain.

According to him, Toyota serves as one of the finest examples. "Toyota is one of the best examples of how innovation, technological mastery, human resource development, and supply chain strengthening can build a globally competitive industry. This experience is relevant for Indonesia as we continue to strengthen the manufacturing industry and increase domestic value added," Susiwijono remarked.

Toyota's relationship with Indonesia has grown for over five decades and has become a crucial part of the national automotive industry's journey. Toyota Indonesia has produced 10 million vehicles, with over 3 million units exported to more than 100 destination countries.

The Toyota Group's investment in Indonesia has also reached approximately Rp100 trillion, involving an ecosystem of more than 360,000 workers, with a local content level achievement of over 80 percent. This performance demonstrates that Indonesia acts not only as an automotive market but has also evolved rapidly into one of Toyota's major production and export bases internationally.

This visit to TCMIT is expected to strengthen dialogue between the Indonesian Government and Toyota regarding manufacturing industry development, technological innovation, supply chain enhancement, vehicle electrification, human resource development, and export expansion. The visit also further reinforces the Indonesia-Japan economic partnership that has spanned more than five decades.
