RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s national rice stocks have reached around 25 to 26 million tons. The government said domestic rice supplies are secure, while the country is also expanding opportunities to export rice to other countries.
Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman said the high level of rice stocks not only meets domestic demand, but also allows Indonesia to export rice. Indonesia has already exported rice to Malaysia and plans to expand shipments to other countries through the state-owned food procurement agency Bulog.

“Not only are our rice stocks secure, but we have also exported rice to Malaysia. This marks a new chapter for the Republic of Indonesia. We will also export rice to several other countries through Bulog,” Amran said at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
In addition to meeting domestic needs and opening up export markets, Indonesia is also providing rice as humanitarian assistance. The government has sent 10,000 tons of rice to Palestine as part of its humanitarian aid for people in need.
Amran said the government is continuing to strengthen rice production through various measures, including developing and optimizing irrigation systems and reservoirs, deploying water pumps, optimizing rice fields and swamplands, and opening new rice-growing areas.
Amid global challenges, including food, energy, and water crises, the government says Indonesia’s food security remains stable. However, rice prices have risen slightly, while extreme climate conditions such as El Niño remain among the challenges being closely monitored.
“Thankfully, our food supply is secure, particularly rice. This is happening amid global turmoil, including food, energy, and water crises,” he explained.
