RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s fishery exports reached 566,250 tons between January and June 2026, valued at around USD 3 billion or approximately IDR 52.6 trillion.

The figure was announced by Acting Head of the Agency for Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fisheries Products (Badan Mutu) at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Ishartini, during a press briefing in Jakarta on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

She noted that the performance was driven by several key commodities. “Exports are estimated at IDR 52.6 trillion,” she said.

Indonesia’s leading fishery products include vannamei shrimp, seaweed, tuna, sardines, mackerel, skipjack, squid‑cuttlefish‑octopus, carrageenan, grouper, crab, and blue swimming crab.

Ishartini added that Indonesian fishery products are now marketed in 152 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.

Market expansion has been supported by international‑standard quality certification applied from upstream to downstream, ensuring product safety and reliability.

By the end of the first semester of 2026, KKP recorded 1,162 certified fishery companies engaged in exports. These included 900 fish processing units (UPI), 229 live fish exporters, and 33 seed production units.

Export growth has also boosted local economies and created jobs. In South Sulawesi, for example, KKP’s technical unit assisted 144 local fish processing companies in exporting to 46 countries, generating 8,389 jobs. From January to August 2026, these local UPIs carried out 8,540 export shipments.

Ishartini emphasized that KKP’s quality certification services are free of charge and registration is conducted online. “Badan Mutu operates 46 technical units across Indonesia, ready to execute quality assurance throughout the production chain and prepare companies for export,” she concluded.
