  • The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) launched the IDX Green Equity Designation to boost green economy financing and strengthen the sustainable finance ecosystem for global investors.
  • Three listed companies (HGII, KEEN, and TOBA) were designated as green and transition equities under a framework aligned with the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) standards and verified by independent raters.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) officially launched the IDX Green Equity Designation in Jakarta on Friday, August 28, 2026, as a strategic step to strengthen the sustainable finance ecosystem for global investors. This green stock designation initiative is designed to spur green economy financing while expanding the low-carbon investment base in the Indonesian capital market.

Through this designation, IDX provides a special label for Listed Companies that meet the criteria for green economic activities or the transition process toward low-carbon emissions. In its initial launch, three issuers were officially named as pioneers: PT Hero Global Investment Tbk (HGII), PT Kencana Energi Lestari Tbk (KEEN), and PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk (TOBA).

This assessment framework was developed based on the Indonesia Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance (TKBI) and refers to the best practices of the Green Equity Principles from the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). The independent verification process also involved international rating agencies such as S&P Global Ratings and PT SUCOFINDO to ensure public data transparency.

IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik stated, “IDX Green Equity Designation is an important milestone in building an Indonesian capital market that is increasingly transparent, credible, and sustainability-oriented. Through this initiative, IDX aims to provide stronger visibility for Listed Companies that make real contributions to the green economy and transition, while offering a better reference for investors in allocating their capital.”

The exchange authorities hope this special label can unlock broader access to sustainable financing and attract foreign investors who focus on environmental issues. Furthermore, this designation is expected to encourage more domestic issuers to integrate sustainability principles into their long-term business strategies.

“Going forward, we hope this initiative will not only improve the quality of sustainability disclosure but also expand the investor base, open up sustainable financing opportunities, and encourage more companies to make sustainability part of their long-term growth strategy,” he said.

Nevertheless, IDX emphasized that this green-based stock designation is not an investment recommendation or a guarantee of a company's financial performance. Both global and domestic investors are advised to conduct independent risk analysis before making capital allocation decisions in the stock market.
