  • Two Indonesian MSMEs exported $29,000 (Rp510 million) worth of processed fruits, vegetables, and tempeh chips to Chilean retailer Cencosud Retail S.A.
  • The deal resulted from participation in the Espacio Food & Service 2025 exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Trade and local Indonesian trade offices to help build long-term trade ties.

RRI.CO.ID, Santiago – Two Indonesian micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) have successfully penetrated the Chilean retail market by exporting processed fruit and vegetable products, as well as tempeh chips, worth US$ 29 thousand, equivalent to Rp510 million. The shipment of these value-added goods took place during the second week of August 2026 and is expected to arrive in Chile in October 2026.

This successful export transaction to South America was facilitated by CV Pangantama Makmur Abadi and CV Arva Indonesia through a Chilean buyer, Cencosud Retail S.A. This sale marks a new commodity category, as Indonesia’s previous exports to Chile were dominated by manufactured goods such as vehicles, footwear, and fertilizers.

The Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, commended the achievement of Indonesian SMEs in successfully expanding their reach into this international market. She hopes this will mark the beginning of a sustainable, long-term partnership with local buyers.

“This transaction could mark the beginning of a long-term partnership with local buyers. This aligns with the Ministry of Trade’s efforts to boost exports to global markets. These efforts include trade promotion, market exploration, exhibition facilitation, and business communication support between Indonesian exporters and potential buyers abroad,” he said, as quoted from the ministry’s press release on Monday, August 24, 2026.

This trade agreement is the result of follow-up efforts following the participation of Indonesian MSMEs in the Espacio Food & Service 2025 food and beverage exhibition in Chile. The government, through the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Santiago and the Indonesian Embassy in Santiago, continued to facilitate these business communications until they yielded tangible results.

Irene Hartanto, owner and founder of CV Pangantama Makmur Abadi, also expressed her gratitude for the government’s support in facilitating exports. She hopes to remain consistent in export activities moving forward.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make this initial transaction a success. Hopefully, we can continue to be consistent in these export activities in the future,” Irene said.

This trade cooperation is expected to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries, which continue to show positive results. Based on trade data for the period from January to June 2026, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus with Chile of USD 162.2 million out of a total trade value of US$ 277.4 million.
