RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has officially established a strategic partnership between local small and medium-sized metal enterprises (SMEs) and slaughterhouses. This step was taken to strengthen the national halal industry ecosystem while meeting global quality standards for slaughtering equipment.

This collaboration focuses on providing slaughtering and meat-processing equipment that meets national quality standards. It is also intended to optimize the market potential of the 1,644 slaughterhouses spread across Indonesia.

Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, provided an official statement in Jakarta on Monday, August 24, 2026, regarding the focus on integrating this industry’s supply chain. He stated that his ministry will continue working to expand strategic partnerships for the SME sector.

“The Ministry of Industry continues to seek the expansion of strategic partnerships for the SME sector so that it can enter the supply chains of potential users in various sectors, including the provision of facilities and infrastructure supporting halal food,” he said.

Production assistance programs and focus group discussions have been held in Depok City with the participation of relevant business actors. These technical training activities also guide local toolmakers to produce knives in accordance with the SNI 9402-2025 Slaughter Knife standard.

Director General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries, Reni Yanita, shared her views on the economic impact of the program. She highlighted the benefits regarding job creation.

“Through these activities, various forms of cooperation can be established, enabling SME operators to amplify the benefits that have long been felt by the surrounding community, including through the creation of jobs,” Reni said.
