  • The JCI is expected to strengthen, with support at 6,500 and resistance at 6,700, as of Monday, August 24, 2026.
  • External factors, including movements and outlooks for global interest rates and long-term government bond yields, are significantly influencing market sentiment today.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) is expected to strengthen on Monday, August 24, 2026, on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). At the end of last week, the index closed 0.37 percent higher at 6,525.69, supported by a stronger rupiah and optimism about the economic outlook.

However, the market remains cautious about short‑term negative sentiment, particularly concerning stocks removed from the FTSE Global Equity Index rebalancing, the Phintraco Sekuritas Analyst Team said in Jakarta on Monday.

The Phintraco team expects the JCI to move within a support level of 6,500 and a resistance level of 6,700. They noted that external factors -- such as movements and outlooks for global interest rates and yields on long‑term government bonds -- are playing a more dominant role in shaping market sentiment today.

“These two factors will be the focus of investor attention amid high energy prices and a widening budget deficit in the United States. An increase in US corporate bond issuance will also influence market sentiment,” the team said.

Yields on US Treasuries continued to rise, with the 10‑year yield climbing 3 basis points (bps) to 4.73 percent and the 30‑year yield increasing more than 3 bps to 5.27 percent.

Meanwhile, investors will closely monitor the Jackson Hole Symposium, as the market looks for signals on the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy outlook, particularly the Fed’s views and stance on the recent rise in US government bond yields.

Meanwhile, Brent crude oil prices remained stable around USD 94 per barrel, amid indications that Iran is seeking to end its conflict with the United States. (Gusti Panji)
