Indonesia's Trade Ministry Targets $17.5 Billion at TEI 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Surakarta - Indonesia's Trade Minister, Budi Santoso, called on businesses to strengthen 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026. The appeal came during a CEO Gathering in Surakarta, Thursday, August 20, 2026.

The Ministry targets $17.5 billion in transactions at TEI 2026. The target exceeds the $16.5 billion target set for last year's exhibition.

The ministry enhances business matching before the exhibition begins. Indonesian trade representatives will identify potential buyers based on participating companies' products.

Minister Budi Santoso then invited the business people to use the expo to expand market and export. "Government and business need to share the same orientation in setting the export target and use Indonesian trade representatives network in various countries," the minister said as quoted from a press release.

Participating businesses can present their products to trade representatives beforehand. This process aims to identify suitable buyers based on products and company capacity.

The approach builds on TEI 2025, which produced significant early transactions. A total of 137 trade contracts worth approximately $9.8 billion were signed.

In addition, the ministry will continue supporting businesses after trade contracts are signed. Trade representatives will monitor transactions and help resolve technical or regulatory obstacles.

The CEO Gathering involved 106 HIMKI member companies from several regions. The event formed part of continuing preparations for TEI 2026.

HIMKI and PT Debindomulti Adhiswasti also signed a strategic partnership agreement. The agreement concerns international promotional development for Indonesian furniture and home decor.

Industry participants welcomed TEI as an opportunity to expand export markets. One participant expected dedicated furniture halls to attract more international buyers.

The 41st Trade Expo Indonesia will run from October 14-18, 2026. The exhibition will take place at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Banten.
