RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Changes to global stock indices remain a key focus for the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), which has confirmed that communication with global index provider Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) continues.
“Our communication with MSCI will certainly continue. The same goes for our communication with global investors,” IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik said in Jakarta on Thursday, August 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He emphasized that this effort aims to maintain and strengthen investor confidence in Indonesia’s capital market.
Jeffrey explained that MSCI’s announcement on Thursday was part of a periodic index review of stocks in various countries, including Indonesia. During this process, MSCI adjusts index compositions based on publicly available information.
He believes MSCI continues to use information disclosed by the IDX as one of its references in the rebalancing process. “As in previous rebalancing processes, MSCI also uses publicly disclosed information provided by the IDX, such as High Shareholding Concentration (HSC) and the 1 percent share ownership thresholds,” he said.
In the MSCI Equity Indexes August 2026 Index Review, several Indonesian stocks underwent classification changes. MSCI removed two Indonesian stocks from the MSCI Global Standard Index, with one reclassified to the MSCI Global Small Cap Index.
Within the MSCI Global Small Cap Index, one Indonesian stock was added, while nine were removed. All changes will take effect after the market closes on August 31 and will become effective on September 1.
MSCI is scheduled to announce its next index review on November 11, with changes taking effect on December 1.
The MSCI Index Review is a quarterly evaluation used to adjust weightings and add or remove stock constituents from reference indices. The process is conducted periodically to reflect developments in global stock markets. ***
