RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has begun preparing for changes to its ownership structure, with several potential investors expressing interest in acquiring shares as part of the exchange’s demutualization process.
IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik said the exchange is currently discussing this interest with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and existing shareholders. The step follows the mandate of the Law on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law).
“To follow up on the provisions of this legislation, there are already potential investors who have expressed interest in investing in the IDX as part of the exchange’s demutualization process under the P2SK Law,” Jeffrey said in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Jeffrey emphasized that the exchange remains committed to implementing the demutualization provisions of the P2SK Law. “The share ownership by these parties will not compromise the independence of the Stock Exchange,” he said.
Under the P2SK Law, demutualization allows the IDX to be owned by three state institutions: the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia (BI), and Danantara Indonesia.
Danantara Indonesia is currently preparing steps to acquire a stake in the exchange.
Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir said discussions regarding the ownership process are ongoing with the OJK and the IDX Board of Directors. “Hopefully, this can be finalized within the next few months,” Pandu said.
Regarding the size of the ownership stake, Pandu said the matter is still being discussed. “We’ll share the details with the public soon,” he said.
Pandu explained that Danantara’s ownership will be carried out through PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM). “The Investment Management Agency (BPI) has instructed DIM to carry out the investment in support of this demutualization,” he said. ***
