Indonesian Games Target Global Markets at HARGAI 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s gaming industry continues to show promising growth, as reflected in the 10th Indonesian Game Day (HARGAI) celebration in Jakarta.

Held on August 8–9, 2026, at the Garuda Sparks Innovation Hub, FX Sudirman, HARGAI 2026 brought together developers, publishers, gamers, communities, content creators, the media, students, and the general public. The event served as a platform to celebrate and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian-made games.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said the apps and games subsector grew by 18.22 percent compared to the previous year. “Growth in the apps and games subsector increased by 18.22 percent compared to the previous year,” Minister Riefky said during a panel session, as quoted on the Ministry’s official website on Saturday, August 8.

He said this growth has contributed to job creation and increased investment. The government is encouraging collaboration with industry players to accelerate the commercialization of local games and expand access to global markets.

The Ministry has showcased nine local games through the Games Corner at Terminals 2 and 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA). Ten local games were also brought to the Gameseed event to open international market opportunities.

President of the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) Shafiq Husein said the national gaming industry’s journey over the past decade has shown both progress and challenges. “Indonesia is not just a country of gamers, but a country that creates games,” Shafiq said.

He hopes more Indonesian games will enter the global market over the next 10 years, helping introduce Indonesia’s stories, culture, and creativity to the world.

HARGAI 2026 also featured 15 game studios and five board games. The event was supported by the government, associations, and industry players to build a healthier and more competitive Indonesian gaming ecosystem. ***
